In China, there is an existing practice at one of their festivals where 10,000 cats or more get slaughtered and feasted on by festival-goers. This is violently opposed by many animal-lovers in China and the world over. This is a shocking story of a cat rescue undertaken in China to avert this practice.
More than 1300 cats in dozens of metal cages were waiting by the roadside on Xiangyang Road in Tianjin Citys Nankai District.
They are all the victims of cat trafficking and about to be shipped to meat dealers in China’s southern Guangdong Province. That is, until about 100 pet lovers and animal rights activists came to their rescue.
In this post on Chinasmack.com, dated last Monday, we can see one of the first calls rallying support to rescue these cats.
